Background

History

Fournier are wine growers making classic Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé in their family winery. The Fournier family estate has grown from five hectares in 1950 to 60 hectares today. The wines can be described as herby, gunflint-smoky, combining appealing aromas with a refreshing crispness.

Regional info

Situated on the banks of the River Loire to the East of Bourges, the Sancerre vineyards cover an area of around 2.350 hectares. Three types of soil predominate in the Sancerre region : - clay and limestone white soils, the "Terres Blanches", found in the hills furthest west. - Pebbly limestone soils, known locally as the "Caillottes" and cilicious-clay soils, underlying the hills further east.

I have always been a fan of Sancerre White but I recently bought a mixed Rose case and was amazed to find 2 bottles of this wine inside . Wow ! it's pale pink in colour with a smooth but intense flavour , incredibly good with or without food and is a very good price for what I think is the best Rose wine I've ever tasted and as I've tried almost every Rose wine that's ever been made must say something. I will be ordering this wine as the Rose option at my son's wedding !

Light in colour and appeals to the eye. Sharp, smooth taste of citrus/lemon and cleansing to the palate. Excellent to drink with seafood, white meat or on its' own. My 3 daughters - now adults - have been nurtured on this wine and sancerre white
