A crisp mineral Chardonnay, deeply concentrated with a silky mouth-feel.
It is loaded with pear and fig with a hint of hazelnut character alongside the limestone chalky zing which the Limarí Valley delivers in white varieties.
This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 2 years
Giles Kime - Sunday Telegraph 06/04/2014
Of the 2012 vintage, Giles Kime said: "A classic match for this week's poached salmon dish might be a glass of white Burgundy, but the rich, nutty style of good-quality Chilean chardonnay will make a similarly delcious and deeply satisfying combination. Also ideal with roast chicken."
Hamish Anderson - Daily Telegraph Magazine 26/04/2014
Of the 2012 vintage, Hamish Anderson said: “One of the top-end ranges from Chile’s largest producer, this has a lovely old-school feel, rich and bold with flavours of cream and tropical fruit, and nuances of spicy oak. It is saved from being overblown by Limari’s life-affirming acidity, which gives structure. Made for roast chicken.”
Victoria Moore - Daily Telegraph 02/05/2014
Of the 2012 vintage, Victoria Moore said: “This sturdy chardonnay, made using grapes from Chile’s northerly Limari Valley, could do with food that stands up to it. Say, barbecued marinated chilli prawns or roast pork and apple sauce, though not for the veggies, obviously. It’s judiciously oaked in French barrels, with a plump apricot flavour, granola-like mealiness and a vibrant citrus twang. Throw it in a decanter for an hour or two before serving.”
Matthew Jukes - Weekend, Daily Mail 07/06/2014
Of the 2012 vintage, Matthew Jukes said: "This is a honeyed, gently oaked chardonnay with a golden hue and a palate-enriching flavour. Drink it with main course fish dishes or roast chicken."
Viña Concha y Toro owns around 8,800 hectares of vineyards in some of the best locations in Chile and Argentina. This enormous investment in vineyard ownership gives Viña Concha y Toro complete control over wine quality from planting of varieties in various locations throughout Chile and Argentina, to harvesting, cellaring and bottling. Marques de Casa Concha is a small range of single vineyard wines made from classic grape varieties. Winemaker Marcelo Papa chooses the most suitable location for each grape variety and also uses a variety of French oak barrels from some of the best cooperages in France to achieve an elegant and harmonious style to this austere range of wines.
At the edge of the Atacama Desert, one of the driest places on Earth, the Limarí Valley is at the outer limit of wine production in Chile. Despite the extreme conditions, it is a paradise for grape production in addition to the many other fruits which are grown here. Without irrigation, the only plant that will grow is the cactus. The climate is cool, owing to the region’s proximity to the Pacific Ocean and the significant drop in temperature after sunset. Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay deliver spectacular results with intense flavours, crisp acidity and a mineral quality. Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon deliver an impressive concentration of colour and flavour with an elegance and freshness that is unique within our portfolio of wines.
