Orso Primitivo 2011, Italy, 13%
Packing quite the punch when it comes to flavour, this southern Italian red from the Puglia region is a gem- Loaded with smooth black fruits and spice, this is juicy, ripe and long on flavour-Team this with shepherd’s pie or even chilli con carne.
Jacktone Ranch Merlot Reserve 2011, USA, 13.5%
From the sun-drenched vineyards of California’s Central Valley comes this luscious red from the top-quality 2011 vintage-Soft, supple and rich with plummy aromas and flavours with a sprinkle of spice- Works perfectly with good ol’ spaghetti bolognese!.
Origin Pinotage 2012, South Africa, 13%
If there’s one grape that South Africa can definitely call its own, it’s Pinotage (a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault)- Rich, with brooding bramble and spice flavours, this would be great with a juicy burger- Or even with dark chocolate – seriously.
Faustino Rivero Rioja Tempranillo 2011, Spain, 13.5%

Tempranillo, this is packed with hallmark Rioja notes of red berries together with a twist of allspice- And from a fantastic vintage too! One to team with barbecued sausages or spicy lamb kebabs.
Domaine d’Idernes Madiran 2003, France, 13%
At a decade old, this Madiran is all about the wonderful aromas and flavours you get when a wine has had sufficient time to develop in the bottle- Rich with firm blackberry flavours, a faint touch of liquorice and a fantastically mellow quality- Brilliant with beef.
La Casita Shiraz Reserva 2011, Chile, 14%
This wine is made in the Coquimbo Valley, Chile’s most northerly wine-producing region, by producers Viña Falernia- They’ve produced a show-stopping reserva Shiraz with lots of blackberry and plum flavours, and a touch of black pepper- Fantastic with roast lamb or steaks.
