Expert Opinion

In the press...

"Made by the talented new wine-making team at Denbies Estate in Surrey, this is a good introduction to the delights of English fizz. It's nicely balanced and full of fresh, herby flavours, as well as lush apple and melon fruitiness."

Jamie Goode - S Magazine (Sunday Express) 26/08/2012

Background

History

The Denbies’ farm trace its histpry back to the 18th Century. Denbies Wine Estate is family owned and run, one of the largest privately owned in Northern Europe. The current owners acquired the Estate in 1985. An eminent local geologist identified that the estate had exactly the same soil composition of the Champagne region in France and that the Dorking area had a history of wine making dating back to Roman times. This knowledge combined with the vision of the present owner resulted in the planting of 300,000 vines over 265 acres.

This English wine is excellent......

Having visited Denbies Vineyards recently, we sampled several still wines, felt inspired to try the sparking, I was surprised to learn that Tesco's was selling sparkling British wine, I was also pleased that Tesco kept Denbies on the label. This sparkling wine is excellent, it is crisp and clean on the pallet, is is very easy to drink, it is without hesitation that I recommend it. it is really easy to overlook British wine, but this one really is up there amongst the best of the sparking......! Don't take my word for it, give it a try..... ????? .

A wonderful sparkling that could beat most "discounted" champagnes. Well worth it!
