The drink is named after London's Buck's Club where it was invented, and first served, by one of its barmen, McGarry, in 1921. Buck's Fizz is popularly served at celebrations as a less alcoholic alternative to sparkling wine or Champagne. In 1981, the name lent itself to a successful British pop group. Today, in the UK at least, the name has now become as well-known for the group as for the drink itself.
