Tasting Notes
The wine is a deep and dark wine.
Rich, savoury character of Shiraz with flavours of blackberries, cherries, cassis and floral tones.
Good richness of ripe fruit and pepper-spice supported by a firm tannin structure.
Very good oak integration.
The palate develops tremendous concentration of flavours with very good complexity and a fresh long finish.
Storage Instructions
This wine can be drunk now but will further improve if carefully stored for up to 6 years
Background
History
The Glenelly Estate origins go back to the seventeenth century. May de Lencquesaing, owner of the famous Pichon Lalande estate, purchased Glenelly in 2003, putting her considerable expertise and faith firmly behind the great wines of South Africa.

Regional info
The Glenelly Estate is in the Idas Valley, Stellenbosch, on the Southern slopes of the Simonsberg mountains. The 128 hectares rest upon a decomposed granite and sandstone base. 60 hectares are given over to red varietals, 6 hectares of white and 5 of olive trees.
