BBC Saturday Kitchen, Saturday 8th July 2012. Susy Atkins selected the Telegraph Station Semillon 2011 to go with Paul Rankin’s Japanese Salmon dish:“Many people know of the Semillon grape for the role it plays in the classic white Bordeaux blend, but it also makes its mark in Australia where it delivers a wine that is not overtly fruity and oaky like the typical Aussie Chardonnay, but is more subtle, creamy and rounded. A lovely perfume, it’s a wee bit buttery there with some peach and slightly citrus like. The plump texture here is key to standing up to the texture of the salmon. A premium Australian wine perfect for this salmon dish.”
Susy Atkins - Stella (The Sunday Telegraph) 12/08/2012Of the 2011 vintage, Susy Atkins said: "Soft, rounded and gently plumped up with lime and peach. Easy-going, and works well alongside the roast tomatoes and creamy labneh recipe."
Semillon is a classic French grape which has become one of Australia's most iconic white varietals. This wine takes its name from the Overland Telegraph Stations built in 1872 between Port August in the south and Darwin in the north, which connected Australia with the rest of the world.

The grapes for this wine were grown in the warm, sunny vineyards of South Eastern Australia's Big Rivers NSW (Riverina) and Riverland regions.

Not previously a fan of this grape but was seduced by the price. Floral and buttery. Drink on its own or with food.

Found this wine very drinkable and a cut above the supermarket £3.99 ers. Would be great with seafood and is, in my humble opinion, very good value.

Bought this back in the summer and it was very very good. The more recent case is still very good but not quite the delicious tasting wine I remember. (Can't recall the vintage of the earlier case.)

An excellent wine. Soft floral scent and a gentle on the palate. This wine has gone well with meals and on its own. Glad that I bought it.
