On the nose this wine has pear drop notes followed by delicious soft flavors of melons and apples.
Rich and zesty on the finish with a slightly mineral hint.

Matthew Jukes - Weekend (Daily Mail) 04/08/2012Of the 2011 vintage, Matthew Jukes said: "I cannot believe that decent Macon can be found for under a fiver - so get in quick. Boasting neat, crisp chardonnay flavours, and a jolly, summer air, this wine is a stunning decathlete of a wine that would be spot on with salads and lighter fish dishes."
Andrew Neather - Evening Standard 13/09/2012Of the 2011 vintage, Matthew Jukes said: "Macon Villages is effectively the most basic level of white Macon (red Macon: don't go there.) The next step up, in theory, are wines from the 43 villages allowed to append their name, e.g.. Macon Pierreclos. This one is from vines grown in the north near the appropriately named village of Chardonnay (the sole grape for all white Macons.) Made by Vignerons des Grandes Vignes, as the Prisse co-op rather grandly styles itself, it's fresh, clean, slightly rounded: not the most sophisticated Burgundy by any stretch of the imagination, but at this price, who's arguing."
Victoria Moore - The Daily Telegraph 30/09/2012Of the 2011 vintage, Victoria Moore said: "Simple white Burgundy priced at a fiver has absolutely no right to taste as genteel, neat, clean and tidy and well put together as this one does. Really lovely crisp, gentle Chardonnay with a lemon tilt and trace of limestone."
Victoria Moore - The Daily Telegraph 08/12/2012Of the 2011 vintage, Victoria Moore said: “Unoaked Chardonnay. Limpid with an apple-like twist. Clean and plain but also mercifully dry.”
Fiona Beckett - The Guardian Weekend 15/12/2012Of the 2011 vintage, Fiona Beckett said: "To drink with the bird, I prefer a fatter, richer white Burgundy. A bargain is Tesco's Macon Blanc Villages 2011…in a tasting I did for Decanter wine magazine this time last year, white Burgundy came out tops with turkey."

Very good at the price. Slightly fruity and refreshing but smooth too. Well worth keeping a few bottles around.

Delicious taste; very enjoyable to drink as an accompaniment to food, or just on it's own. I would definitely order this again.

First time I bought this wine and I was rather pleased. It was light crisp and easy to drink. Would highly recommend this.

For around a fiver this is good value if you like an unoaked chardonnay without the often strong flavours. Sadly it has disappeared from our local Tesco store and at the moment is not even available online !

I always make sure I have a few bottles of this in my cellar (garage) for unexpected guests. It's consistently good without being spectacular and I feel like I'm treating my guests without spending too much in the process.

Displaying qualities of depth and flavour equal to many of its more expensive rivals. A quality French Chardonnay which I will definitely be buying again.

Macon is close enough to burgundy to produce a similar type of wine' The one chosen by Tesco is very good, not too acidic with a variety of different flavours. Above all though it is great value. A bit disappointing that it has jumped by a pound a bottle but it is still hard to match anywhere.

In the past, I've been put off Chardonnay wines by the Australian preference for very strong oak flavouring. This wine is much subtler and has allowed the delicacy of the grape to come through. This is an excellent starting point if you want to explore this region's wines before trying more expensive ones.

Clean, flinty, traces of minerals, but ultimately flat and hollow. After half a dozen, little incentive for a repeat

Have bought at least 6 cases of this wine over the last few months. Good every day Macon, and for the price we can't fault it. Of course there are much better Macons out there, but not for £5 a bottle (or less with voucher codes). Rated 4* for value.

I have been drinking this wine for many years. It is fresh light and has never given me a headache. I used to be able to buy it at my local Tesco Store but they ceased to stock it so now I get it on line and it is delivered to my door the next day free. This wine is very reasonably priced and when it is on offer very cheap. I get upset when you say it out of stock when I try to get it on line. I cannot recomend this wine more for its flavour and price.

Having drunk so much Chardonnay, mostly Australian in the past, I now generally avoid anything labelled Chardonnay. However this wine is really pleasant quaffing wine with no hint of that overpowering oaked Chardonnay taste. Very good value.

I was drawn to this wine after reading Victoria Moore's piece in the Telegraph. The simple fact that she was recommending a wine at £4.99 a bottle was enough to stimulate my interest but I still had some trepidation when making my first purchase. How delighted I was when sampling my first bottle. Definitely remarkable value. More cases have been bought since.

A delicious dry wine with a full flavour and incredible value for money which makes for an excellent every day wine, but can also be drunk for special occasions. I have yet to give to a white wine drinker who does not like it. Several of my friends have been converted to white wine after being given this one! I would recommend it to anyone who likes a dry white wine.

This is a smooth tasty example of a Macon, at a very affordable price. I think it is streets ahead of other wines within its price range. The efficient delivery (next day) to your door makes the purchase easy and the available either for drinking on its own or with a meal. Well done.

This is a typical French wine in that it is not soo sweet or alcoholic (only 12.5%) like many new world wines. it has a clean taste, and is well balanced reminding one of the more expensive burgundy wines and oh so different from new world whites... For £4.99/bottle it is exceptional good value.

For the price this wine was good value. We were put off chardonnay years ago by the big, in your face, stuff coming in from OZ and stopped buying it . But this one we liked. For the price it is 4 stars. it is fresh with a bit of a zing

Tremendous price to quality ratio in a zingy little Macon Villages that oozes fruit and has a texture way above its pocket money price tag. Highly recommended as an everyday livener - and when it's on offer from time to time, just too good to be ignored. Easily as good as an £8 to £10 alternative, so give it a go!

A really lovely wine with enough rich Chardonnay butter flavour without the new world's heavy handed over-oaking that risks making wine that tastes like paint. This is how French Chardonnay based wines should be and makes you feel like you are tasting a real wine of character and not some bland confected dumbed down blob. The slight metal end taste is the subtle reminder of the its Macon roots. Another great Tesco own label product showing the skill of their buyers being able to offer outstanding value on famous wines.

I have been buying this wine for three years now and it delivers a consistent quality of a white Burgundy as you will get anywhere. It has a well balanced flavour of soft fruits and as stated in Tescos own description it has a good slight mineral finish.
