A really reliable Rioja made from the Tempranillo grape, this is loaded with red berry fruit flavours and a gentle note of spice too.
A classic, and one that works a treat with lamb or roast pork.
Delicious now, this wine should be drunk within a year of purchase.
Rioja is a region in Spain with a long, glorious vinicultural history. Rioja wine, especially the red, has been well known for centuries as Spain’s flagship's wine. Rioja was the first Spanish wine region to obtain DO status in 1925. In 1991, it was promoted to DOCa (Qualified Designation of Origin), a higher category reserved for wines maintaining a proven consistency and quality over a long period of time.

Rioja is one of Spain's most famous wine producing regions. Located in the North-East of the country, it is best known for its oaked red wines but now also produces modern fruity reds, crisp whites and juicy rosés. Rioja has a long tradition of using indigenous grape varieties– the dominant grape being Tempranillo. It produces soft supple wines, with aromas of red summer fruits such as strawberries and raspberries. Garnacha adds warmth and spice to blended Rioja wines, while Graciano adds structure, elegance and acidity to a blend making wines ideal for ageing.
