Great balance between the fruit (cherries, black plums, ripe blackberries) and the clean nuances coming from the wood (clove, pepper, vanilla and coconut).
Smooth and balanced on the palate with a full, elegant feel and a long, lingering finish.

This wine can be drunk now but will further improve if carefully stored for up to 4 years
Campo Viejo is a wine that has been exciting consumers since 1959 and is defined by them as the “approachable style of the old world”. Campo Viejo is a primary fruit driven wine with well integrated oaky notes.
Elena Adell
Most of our vineyards consists of old vines, twenty-five years old, and mainly of the Tempranillo variety. The vines are arranged in plots, cultivated in line with previously-determined criteria so that each grape is destined for a particular type of wine. In the tied vineyards, the vine growth cycle is carefully monitores and a series of growing guidelines are laid down for each parcel.

I LIVED IN SPAIN FOR 10 YEARS AND MANAGED TO SAMPLE QUITE A FEW OF THEIR WINES BUT FOUND THIS WINE TO BE MY BEST. I VISITED THE RIOJA REGION (LAGRONO) AND WAS AMAZED AT HOW MANY RIOJA WINES ARE DISTILLED. BUT I FOUND THIS ONE WAS MOST TO MY LIKING.

Pleasant enough but not memorable. Told by Tesco that my review is too short so added this bit.

have drunk Campo Viejo Reserva as a wekday wine for years; at Tesco price of £6.99 it is good value for money and makes a good com;liment to most meats.

superb rioja one of our favourites Pours really smooth out of the bottle (almost silky). Full bodied and rich berry flavours, nice oak flavours Only issue we have had with this and the crianza / tempranilllo (yellow label) is that we have had quite a few bottles that were corked (none from this batch yet). So save any receipts delivery notes etc. All the campo viejo range wines are really good. Off topic slightly.....we cannot find any of the Rosado / Rose wines on any supermarket shelves now ......or even online ....no idea why.

This is one of my favourite wines and being Spanish myself, I think this is one of the best wines available, not to mention very reasonably priced. This wine is exceptional and I would thoroughly recommend for dinner parties.

Campo Viejo Reserva has got to be one of the best Rioja's around if not the best. It is an excellent wine and so easy to drink that a bottle never last long in our house when it has been opened. The current special offer price is first class too being only 50 pence more than the standard Rioja.

An excellent wine, very smooth and full of flavour. Great on any occasion and compliments any meal very nicely. There is always a bottle in our wine rack.

A great example of the nature of Rioja wines - complex flavours, develops in the glass, every mouthful tastes different. Excellent value, recommended.

Having been a long time fan of Campo Viejo Rioja, I'm also a fan of their Reserva. It's a fuller bodied wine but as with most Rioja's this isn't at the cost of taste. It is heavier than the standard Rioja but in a good way, keeping the fruity flavours and buttery taste that I love. As with the Campo Viejo Rioja, this Reserva can vary a lot with vintage but it's always very drinkable. It is a tad expensive when at full price but well worth buying a case or two when on special offer.

This is my favourite wine at the moment. A gentle rioja with bags of flavour. And reduced to £5 a bottle, it felt like Christmas had arrived early!
