The winery was built in 1979 but the first vines at the vineyard were planted in 1946. The O Fournier group purchased the winery in 2002, making it the third estate in the highly successful and expanding O Fournier empire.
The vineyards are situated in a bend of the Deuro River with a sheer 15m cliff face separating them from the fast flowing river. The soil is a combination of sand and large pebble stones, reminiscent of Chateauneuf du Pape. The vines benefit from extended ripening hours due to the heat retaining qualities of the stones. This coupled with the 700m altitude creates potential for the production of these world class wines.
