This is jaw-droppingly good, made by Bodegas Palacio from Tempranillo grapes grown on some of the oldest vines in the vineyard.
This was aged for a year in oak barrels, then a further two years in the bottle, resulting in mellow black fruit flavours and a velvet-like texture.
Really wonderful wine; a joy with roast lamb or stronger, hard cheeses.
This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 3 years
Awarded 4 stars in Decanter magazine, this is a smooth Rioja Reserva from an excellent vintage. It was made using old vine Tempranillo fruit then aged 12 months in small oak barrels and a further 24 months in bottle to create a lovely silky smooth taste.
Bodegas Palacio is a centenary winery located in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa. It was founded in 1894 by Don Cosme Palacio and has a whole timeline of wines like The Glorioso, which dates back to 1928.
Rioja Alavesa is situated to the west of Logrono, on the north of the river Ebro. The climate is influenced by the Atlantic and is comparatively cooler than the rest of Rioja, producing more elegant wines. This is of classic style and a true example of why the locals take such pride in their wine.
