The perfect combination of elegant and crisp, this northern Italian wine is fresh and zingy with citrus aromas- It was awarded a gold medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards, and is a real winner at this price.

To enjoy this wine at its best, drink within 1 year of purchase.
Giles Kime - Sunday Telegraph 16/09/2012Of the 2011 vintage, Giles Kime said: "This delicious gavi from Piedmont in northern Italy has a refreshing, citrusy character that is a brillaint match for the textures and flavours of seafood. It also makes a great partner to simple fish dishes such as grilled sardines."
Matthew Jukes - Weekend (Daily Mail) 22/09/2012Of the 2011 vintage, Matthew Jukes said: "I adore this Gavi and with £2 sliced off the price tag it's a steal. Clean lines and a wistful citrus aroma make it the ideal wine to accompany Lady Sybil's Poached Salmon with Hollandaise Sauce recipe. And if you fancy a glass while you're cooking, it makes for a scrummy aperitif, too!"
Jane MacQuitty - The Times 06/10/2012Of the 2011 vintage, Jane MacQuitty said: "Tesco must sell more Gavi than the rest of the country's Italian specialists put together, so it's high time you lapped up this bold, nutty, cortese-grape special from northwest Italy."
David Williams - The Observer Magazine 29/04/2012Of the 2011 vintage, David williams said: "Forced to choose an own-label Italian white, I'd almost always go for Piedmont's Gavi, which most supermarkets now stock, over the run-of-the-mill Pinot Grigio. Made from the Cortese grape, Tesco's consistently high-quality version is just about the perfect wine for simply prepared fish, with its very tangy citrus peel and touch of herbs in vivacious form in this new vintage."
Fratelli Martini was founded in 1947 in the Langhe area. In the 70’s the company underwent substantial technological and production development, always focusing and developing indigenous Italian grape varieties. Today 85% of production is exported.
Massimo Marasso
The Gavi zone comprises 11 communes totalling 1000 hectares. Made from the best Cortese grapes grown on prime hillside vineyards. Part of the crop is late-harvested; lending extra richness to the wine.

This was a great price for a quality white wine. Very smooth with a smooth mellow taste that lingers on the palette. Literally makes a refreshing change from Chardonnay and pinot grigio. Hihly recommended

Gavi is renowned as one of the iconic Italian wines - it shoud be elegant and possessed of a long and complex finish in the mouth. This is not a good example - the body of the taste is uninspiring and the finish lacks complexity. A disappointing wine that does no credit to the Tesco label.

As previous reviews have stated - this is a great, easy on the palate - crisp, dry white and is indeed, best served really cold. As a pinot grigio and sauvignon blanc fan, I love Gavi. Goes down so well on warm summer evenings. Roll on summer!

I normally prefer a New Zealand Savignon Blanc but I purchased this wine on the strong reviews from other wine drinkers. I found it to be of a medium quality without exciting my taste buds!! I believe that the previous reviews are overrated and this mid range wine does not deserve the strong recommendations which I believed would give me a good quality wine at a discounted price. I will not be purchasing this wine again.

A classic example of this great wine. I thought it might be a bit drier, but it is still wonderful

This wine does not disappoint. Year on year it continues to provide good value for money. A refreshing taste in the mouth with good balance making it suitable for all meals based on fish or white meat. Initially recommended to me by my daughter and now a firm family favourite.

thought I'd give it a go having never tried Gavi before. Perhaps it was just a case of expecting too much from this wine - particularly after all the rave reviews for it.....but sadly it didn't thrill me. Elegant, well possibly, crisp definitely, fresh and zingy - well I didn't think it was either of those...fresh to me means light and bright, I didn't get that at all; .zingy to me means alive.....bursting with life.... just the opposite I thought. Taste - my small group of friends that I tried it on, well we all kinda thought actually there wasn't much taste at all..... pleasant enough wine but not something any of us thought much of....and not something I'd buy again....sorry Tesco.

Lovely fresh Gavi with lemony citrus flavours excellent deal and good value. Dodgy corks on most bottles which twist as you take them out making it necessary to pull the cork from half way out.

This is a steal at under a fiver a bottle. It's crisp and full of flavour, but what makes it special is the subtle bouquet and after-taste. My wife is a Sauvignon Blanc fan, but she was totally won over by this.

A really nice white wine. I normally go for a NZ sauvignon blanc, but this makes a nice change. Lovely on its own or with food.

As a Gavi drinker, this wine fits the bill completely. Tesco Finest Gavi, has a fresh crisp taste, and is delicious served really cold. Much tastier than any other supermarket Gavi.

A smooth, dry Italian, in the style, of but preferable to most Pinot Grigio (particularly the cheaper chemical varieties flooding the market) and Falanghina. My current favourite - good for fish, pasta dishes but mostly just for quaffing!

Slightly on the sweeter side than most wines we drink but really full flavours. These days many white wines can't compete with NZ for impact on the palate but this one does and it's great value with the"double-up".

This wine lives upto the reviews and awards that it has received over recent years IMHO. It seems to offer consistent quality at a fair price and when offered to a tasting recently it was very popular. It's not a mind-blowing, memorable wine but does provide a well-balanced blend.

The wine was lovely. However when we tried to put the cork-screw in, the cork moved down the bottle neck. When we eventually managed to get the cork part way out of the bottle neck, it snapped in half and we had to start all over again. This happened on EVERY bottle. Perhaps it was a faulty batch but I won't be ordering this again. I know the fault wasn't us or the cork-screw we were using as this has never happened to us before on any other wines.

This has become our staple white fot the last couple of years. We are habitually French wine drinkers but this wine has really changed our minds.....as has the Squinzano Monte Nobile from Puglia, on the red front, at the other end of Italy! (Which sadly seems to have disappeared form Tesco). Just ordered another load at £4.50 for a wine which would justify a price at twice that level.

Although I'm predominantly a red man, the Gavi from Tesco is one of my favourite Italian whites. Much more body than a Pinot Grigio and good value from Tesco. Good with food (white meats, fish, etc.), but equally good on its own. Definitely worth spending some of your money on...
