A soft, round, medium-bodied red wine packed with smooth blackberry and blackcurrant flavours.

This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 1 year
Jane MacQuitty - The Times 26/03/2011…juicy, beetrooty…
This Macon Rouge was produced by the Caves de Prisse which has 352 members in Southern Maconnais. The winery employs a team of oenologists who work in conjunction with the growers in the vineyards. If growers comply with advice they are able to earn up to +30% extra on the price of their grapes, so effectively they are incentivised in order to maximise grape quality. It is a system that benefits the vines, the grower, and ultimately the wine!
Georges Brichon
The Gamay grapes for this wine were produced in the Macon region, in southern Burgundy. Here the combination of limestone and clay helps to produce fantastic Chardonnay and Gamay grapes which can be seen in this Tesco Macon Rouge.

This review is for the 2009 vintage
This is a very pleasant wine. It is made from the Gamay grape in the Macon area of southern Burgundy, so it has many similarities to Beaujolais; it is almost as fruity as a Beaujolais but, perhaps because it is three years old, it is more well-rounded and has less of the raspberry after taste.
