Of the 2009 vintage, The Wine Gang said: This is a new Michel Chapouter wine for us and we're glad to have made its acquaintance. Classically perfumed with fresh, sweet raspberry mingling with woodsmoke and spice; medium-bodied but multi-layered, supple, fine-textured and elegantly framed by its oak.
Since the beginning of the adventure in 1808, 7 generations have contributed to build one of the finest estates in the Rhône Valley. Michel Chapoutier, at the head of the domain since 1990 has initiated various innovations: he has introduced Braille language on the labels and converted the whole estate to Biodynamic farming methods. He describes himself as “wine-grower, wine-maker and wine lover”.
This wine is from the Côte-Rotie The Côte-Rotie vineyard is certainly one of the oldest in existence in the Rhône valley. An old fondly told legend, tells of the seigneur de Maugiron who having two daughters, one blond and the other dark haired, bequeathed a hillside to each one of them. And thus were born the names of "Côte-Blonde" and "Côte-Brune."
