I simply love a good Pinot Noir and this is not one of them. Over the years we have tried several vintages of this but remain disappointed!

At the time of writing this is £10.99 and this is quite frankly daylight robbery! I ordered this when it was on offer and I'm still very disappointed. It has a very strange, tart aftertaste that is hard to describe. I've had even cheaper PN's in the past and they have all been smoother, if a little thin at times but good, cheap ones are hard to come by so you accept that. I've left it to breathe in the glass for a few hours and also decanted it and had it 24 hrs later, it makes no difference at all. I thought the first bottle was off but the others have all been the same. If I'd have bought this at full price I'd have sent it back. I still have a bottle left and it'll probably be poured down the sink, it's not worth using in cooking either.

I wouldn't pay full price for it , luckily it's often on offer. I have bought for as low as £5.25.

Oyster Bay continue their well established tradition of producing an excellent Pinot Noir year on year, with the 2011 that offers soft, smooth, ripe flavours, with a certain robustness that so many other offerings fail to deliver. Exceptional value when on offer and superior to the Merlot, in my opinion. Their Sauvignon Blanc is also first class.

Generally I find that the N.Z. Pinot Noirs are excellent wines; - the Pinot Noir grapes appear particulalrly suited to the climate in this part of the country. Unfortunately the cost is normally high and therefore it was particularly pleasing to receive details of this offer. Similar to their sauvignon counterparts Oyster Bay wines are of very high quality. I will no doubt "test" a couple of bottles, but the remainder will feature as my Christmas red wine for this year.

I love most of the Kiwi pinot noir and this is no exception. A favourable comparison with many of the more modest Rhone Burgundy, albeit less expensive.

A clean crisp classic white wine from New Zealand's famous Marlborough region.

Whilst Marlborough is synonymous for Pinot Noir this is not one of the best examples. A good every day wine I would not recommend this for any special occasion/party.

I have had this wine before but feel that the last vintage is a lot more dilute than previous ones. I think at £10.99 it should have more raspberry fruit and body. That said it was a good accompaniment with Antipasti.

OK so this wine isnt up there with the very best of kiwi or other top end Pinots. But it is eminently drinkable and with the offers in place it's affordable for every day - which those others aren't. Excellent value for money.

Typical NZ Pinot noir but lacks body and lost its soul somewhere? Unlikely to improve for keeping!
