This is a serious wine with aromas of dark plum, cherry, spice and earthy undertones.
It is rich and generous, with dark berries on the palate and a good long tannin structure, integrated with older French oak.
It will age very well.

This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 4 years
Matthew Jukes - Weekend (Daily Mail) 14/07/2012Of the 2010 vintage, Matthew Jukes said:"With good depth of fruit and Asian spice on the nose, this is a stunning red which can be drunk a little chilled or at normal room temperature. If you cool it down you can increase the chilli heat in your cooking. Voila! A multi-talented red."
Willunga 100 is in McLaren Vale, south of Adelaide. The grapes for the Willunga wines come from a range of selected vineyards in McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills, including some over 50 years old. Wines were made by Steve Pannell and Kate Day up to 2010 and now by Tim James and Kate Day. They use modern equipment alongside traditional winemaking techniques, including open-top fermenters, to ferment the small parcels of fruit arriving at the winery. Willunga 100 aims to produce unique and distinctive wines which capture the essence of the region. The Olive Branch name comes from the long tradition in McLaren Vale of hanging an olive branch over your door as a way of announcing the production of a good quality wine.
Kate Day
The Cabernet and Shiraz come from darker 'Terra Rossa' soils which contribute to rich, bold tannins. All the vineyards are managed to produce the highest quality possible with only the best parcels selected for Willunga 100. The climate of McLaren Vale is often compared to that of the Mediterranean, warm sunny days, with sea breeze influences from the nearby Gulf of St Vincent. These warm days in union with the cooling maritime evening changes are perfect for ripening the grapes whilst maintaining a crisp, clean and fresh structure.
