The Tempranillo grape brilliantly shows with its dark berry flavours and lingering velvety spiciness.
It’s a well-known favourite and would make a great gift too.

The house of Lagunilla continues to go from strength to strength, and this latest award winning vintage of their Rioja Reserva shows exactly why. Made in a traditional oaked style from 80% Tempranillo and 20% Garnacha, it has an intense ruby colour, aromas of dark berry fruits and velvety, rounded plummy fruit flavours. Simply superb.

Base on the expert review and reviews left by others I bought this wine expecting it to be something special but I have found it to be very disappointing. It lacks both body and good after taste. Even at half price it is not great value.

Excellent value when half price. Buy it in bulk & use it as my standard rioja. Some of friends prefer this to the gran reserva. Full of flavour with a smo0th after finish.

Having read other reviews I expected a great tasting wine. It has left an extremely unpleasant taste in the mouth and ,sadly, I have 11 bottles left.

I got this wine first on holiday in Majorca on recommendation of the waiter and that's a few years ago 'cause my children still where on holiday with us!. Naturally I could not get it here when I returned. Then I saw it with Tesco. It is a super classic rioja....thats all that needs to be said.

One of the best medium priced riojas on the market. It has a lovely bouquet and is smooth on the palate. A great one to have on hand for any occasion.

Lovely wine. Bought for my husband who only drinks good red wines. He has sampled a few varieties of Rioja and says that, in his opinion, this sits with some of the best. Give it a go!

Lagunilla is always predictably drinkable. A good wine which is acceptable in most situations whether a drink and nibbles, party wine or a little something to take for your host. Good value for money.

This is a lovely smooth wine, mellow and easy on the palate - whether drinking with a meal or on its own.

Again not a full bodied wine so can be enjoyed with a meal or just on its own. Also enjoyed with our Christmas lunch, Turkey and beef.

I love my Spanish wines. They are often overlooked by "wine snobs". This is a fantastic wine which I managed to pick up when on special for about £5.00 per bottle. Nice easy drinking red and well worth stocking up on when on special. You won't be disappointed with this one.

Given it 3 stars at best, that is if heavily discounted. Easy drinking but failed to excite but at the lower price it was a fair buy. So it's a party of pasta ok but look for a discounted purchase.

This medium bodied rioja is reasonable value at the discounted price. The nose is earthy and fruit laden but the impression on the palate is of an arm wrestle between bright berry fruit and oak. Unfortunately the oak wins, leaving the experience rather unbalanced, especially when drinking without food.

I can't talk about nose, or body, or flavours that linger and advise what's best to eat with this wine: all I know is that when Tesco have this at 50% off (or better) then it's great value for money. It's smooth and easy to drink. Highly recommended and look out for its black-labelled daddy......

At this discounted price I have bought many cases of this wine and have never been disappointed and at this review another 2 cases are on their way. It is a very versatile Rioja for the price and can hold its own against some of the better Spanish Reds. I have gifted this wine on many occasions and have never had any negative feedback.

The first bottle opened was very disappointing, despite have been opened and brought to temperature the wine was very harsh for a Reserva Rioja. Also the first glass had to be discarded as it was full of finings. I am glad that I bought this wine at a discounted price as I would have been even more disappointed. The Aldi Reserva. Rioja is a much better buy.

This is a full-bodied, flavoursome wine which goes with everything.....and nothing. Always quaffable, unpretentious and warm. Friends choosing wine for their daughter's wedding spent a serious evening tasting wines. At my husband's suggestion, they tried this. In a 'blind' test, it won hands down.

I have bought Lagunilla Reserve Rioja for a number of years now. This vintage is not a patch on the 2006. There is something lacking in the taste and it certainly does not show the length of a 'usual' Lagunilla reserve. Very disappointing.

We took a bottle with us when visiting relatives in London and they raved over it and said it was the best wine they had had for a while - and they are wine buffs and think that they only buy the best! So the fact that we got it at half price through Tesco was a bonus. We especially enjoy it with lamb.

I bought this on a recommendation and I have to say that I found it very disappointing, even at half price. There are much better wines for lower prices than this, I wish I hadn't bought it. Maybe the recommendation and earlier reviews referred to a different vintage. I can't believe any wine lover would recommend this one.

I ordered this wine online for the first time a few weeks ago and I shall certainly order it again. It has body and character and does not get overpowered by robust Mediterranean dishes. Come on, you know you want to. Indulge.

To me this is a Goldilocks wine. Its flavours are strong enough to come through with almost any food, without being overpowering. It's oakey without being overly so, and rich without being too tannic. Lovely blend of flavours - I'm no wine buff but even I can distinguish several and love to sip and savour. This has been my main wine for a couple of years and I never tire of it.

This is one of the best wines I've had. Extremely smooth, fruity and full of body. Just slips down the throat so easily and drinkable on its own or with food. The 2007 vintage is definitely not a par on the 2006 one.

Bought this having already enjoyed the 2006 vintage of this wine - well the old adage what a diffference a year makes stands here - the 2007 version if very disappointing by comparison - don't know how it was a bronze medal winner, they must have confused it woth the 2006 version. Definitely the 2007 is one to avoid if you can

I was tempted not to write a review about this Rioja as I love it, but felt I should share. As mentioned by the other reviewer is great on its own or with cheese. Stands up to be drunk with pretty much anything. The bottle is also good so also a nice present for anyone who likes Rioja. Started buying this a few Christmases ago (on recommendation) and always make sure I have some in at Christmas as it always goes down a treat.
