This is a stunning Soave from the top of the Soave quality tree - made from grapes gown in vineyards classified as Superiore.
Made from the Garganega grape, this is deliciously fresh and ripe with orange blossom aromas and peach flavours.
There's a hint of almonds too.
A fantastic aperitif, great with light dishes too.
This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 3 years
Susy Atkins - Stella, Sunday Telegraph 14/04/2013
Of the 2011 vintage, Susy Atkins said: "Not as bone dry as some Italian whites, this tastes of ripe pears with a herby note and lemon-fresh finish."
Anthony Rose - The Independent Magazine 11/05/2013
Of the 2011 vintage, Anthony Rose said: "Unusually good soave for the price, an intense dry Italian white with ripe peachy scents and delicious apricoty fruit - gluggily juicy and moreishly dry."
The Cantina di Monteforte co-op is situated in the eastern part of Soave Classico and Soave. They have 1,200 hectares in total, part in Soave Classico and part outside the Classico zone, with some of the best vineyards in Soave Classico. Sixty per cent of their vineyards are on the hills, facing south and southeast, which gives wines that are riper and fuller than most others produced in Soave. The co-op has 600 members and harvests about 20,000 tonnes of grapes a year. Cool summer breezes blowing down the Alpone valley from the foothills of the Dolomites to the north give warm days and cool nights, which helps with the accumulation of aromatic characters in the grapes. Matt Thomson works with Gaetano Tobin at the Cantina to produce these wines.
The vineyards are situated in the Soave Classico zone, in the Veneto in North East Italy.
