Rich aromas of plum, bramblefruit and wild herbs are followed by lots of lingering dark fruits.

This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 2 years

Jamie Goode - S Magazine, Sunday Express 17/03/2013Of the 2011 vintage, Jamie Goode said: “Made by Thierry Boudinaud, this simply packaged southern French red is supple and mid-weight, with attractive raspberry and cherry fruit, as well as a dark chocolate bite. This is highly drinkable.”
Thierry Boudinaud is a winegrower and talented winemaker based in the South of France. His local reputation and contacts give him access to some of the most exciting wines produced in the Languedoc. His familiarity with the people, vineyards and climate coupled with a wealth of winemaking experience all over the world means that he can create bespoke wines.
Thierry Boudinaud
The grapes were picked from 10-24 year old vines planted throughout the Languedoc region in mid September. Soil types consist of mainly limestone covered in big round pebbles. The Languedoc is in the South of France and the grapes are carefully selected by winemaker Thierry Boudinaud.

I bought this wine as I was having difficulty finding an inexpensive Bordeaux for pleasant but unspectacular drinking at dinner and thought it might substitute. It doesn't. Nothing wrong with it but the taste is rather flat with some spice but little fruit and it doesn't really develop to give pleasure.

WHEN OPENED, nose, cherries, bark, smoke, eye watering, nose tingling. taste, sour fruits, little tannin, hot, burns the throat, dry, coats the mouth. aftertaste/tail, more pepper, spice with a sweetness. it lacked some fruit in the middle. two hours later poured it into a decanter, wow what a difference, the nose lost some of its power, it lost some of its sourness, spice and heat. plums appeared from somewhere. tail, still some spice and a touch sweeter with ribenna this is 2012, it is young an it needs those two hours. this is my kind of red wine, a touch complicated, rough around the edges but with guts. 9.2/10 in two years time who knows.

Compared to Argentinian Malbecs this French Malbec is not as enjoyable. It's not quite fat enough or fruity enough, with little to linger on the palate. Having said that it is reasonable value for money and perfectly quaffable without going into raptures about it. I shall stick to Argentinian Malbec and give this one a miss in the future.

A very good Malbec. We should have bought more. No point in our looking elsewhere when we can buy this quality from you at these prices

I was expecting more of this wine from the reviews, but find myself slighly disappointed. There's nothing wrong with it as an average red wiine - it has plenty of fruit and body, but I just wanted it to be more special.

Not too much here to challenge the palate, all soft berry fruits. If served a bit cooler has a little more depth & the slightest touch of astringency.

For an inexpensive French vin de pays this wine has a very pleasant full bodied taste without being too strong or over-corked in storage. I would buy again at around £54 per case.

A snip at £4.99. Worth at least double. Slips down easy and has real character of plums and summer fruits (the dark ones). More than a match for meats without leaving you too heady or too dry on the palate. An absolute must even if at full price.

This wine is lighter than the Argentinian variety and less alcoholic. It is fairly fruity however.

Great wine for a cold & wet evening whilst tucking into a hearty meal. Packed with lots of competing flavours, the wife & I really rate this one. There's something slightly different & very pleasant about the aftertaste your mouth receives from consuming this. I'll be ordering some more for crimbo!

This is a smooth and delightful wine. Gentle on the tongue and quite different from most Argentinian Malbecs I've had.
