Giles Kime - Sunday Telegraph 18/12/2012Of the 2011 vintage, Giles Kime said: “The warming, spicy character of this good-value Portuguese red makes a natural partner to the comforting, concentrated flavours in this week’s dish. It’s also a good match for other winter staples such as roast beef, or pasta with a rich spicy sauce.”
The Falua winery was built in 2004 to high standards, and all the latest in winery equipment, specifically to take on the challenge of the export market. Tagus Creek is the culmination of those efforts.
Antonina Barbosa
Tagus Creek comes from from the region along the great Tagus river which runs south to Lisbon. Great farming country with good soils and a benign climate are perfect for quality grape production.

This wine is full of flavous, really fruity with flavours of currants and plums. I would highly recommend it is excellent value for money

As a frequent visitor to the Algarve I have searched for this wine in their supermarkets but to no avail. Sadly, the UK does not appear to be fond of Portuguese wine so the choice is limited here and this is one of the best I have been able to buy in England.

After seeing apparently good reviews, I decided that this must be a great value wine and bought a case. When it arrived I was excited to open the first bottle. I did so and poured a glass that I could barely finish, it was so sweet and lacking any descernable flavour. I have spent the time since, trying to offload it. A terrible wine that is utterly lacking any attractive flavours or character. Tastes as if it would cost pence and be served in a cardboard carton.

I always buy this wine.....normally when it is on a deal! It is a great wine. Full of fruit, medium body and goes well with practically nay dish. I would definitely recommend this wine. One of my cheaper end favourites.

One of the better Portuguese wines. Good dark fruit flavour, with a liquorice after-taste. An excellent wine for the money - great with lamb.

The 2011 vintage is not as good as the 2010 but remains a very good buy. I particularly enjoy the red fruit characteristics and the acidity carries the ripe fruit. Good on its own but better with food.

This is a good strong wine and goes very well with food, but can be drunk on its own. Full of lovely flavours and leaves the tongue without an aftertaste.

Good mix of Shiraz and Trincadeira give a nice spicy wine with good body. Good for the price.

The spicy taste of shiraz mellowed with Trincadeira makes my taste buds to carry on drinking til there is no more. I would buy it again and again.

An excellent full flavoured red typical of a much more expensive wine. Very good value at the discount price.

It's nice to try such good value wines as this, from the Alentejo region of Portugal. It would go very well with lightly spiced dishes--Chinese, Indian--as well as sausages and even chicken. Always worth picking free delivery times!

Another wine sale bargain, this is a surprisingly complex and interesting wine. Goes with many different foods, including oily fish. Open at least one hour in advance or even decant to get the best from the complex flavours.

This wine is superb. For £4.50 it tastes better than many wines twice the price. Soft yet full and great to glug in front of the TV or with a meal. Portuguese wine is under rated generally and if you try this then you will be a confirmed lover.

Wines from the Alentejo rarely fail, best wine region in Portugal IMO.
