24/04/2006 - Wine Advocate ( Robert Parker ) Note : 89 / 100 Seductive in a superficial manner, the 2003 La Conseillante exhibits a deep ruby/plum color with purple nuances followed by captivating aromas of mulberries, black cherries, licorice, and flowers. In the mouth, the wine is luscious, soft, and velvety-textured with sweet tannin. It does not possess profound depth. Drink it now and over the next 7-10 years. Obviously, vintage conditions forced this estate to harvest early, hence the lack of intense concentration.
Héritiers L. Nicolas
Situated on the right bank of the Gironde, just north-west of St. Emilion, Pomerol is the smallest of the Bordeaux regions. Unlike other appellations, it has no formal system of classification. Nonetheless, the wines command some of the highest of all prices – Indeed, Pomerol is home to the famous Chateau Petrus, one of the most expensive wines in the world. Merlot is the dominant grape here which, together with the vein of iron rich clay running through the soil, helps to give the wines a uniquely rich and smooth character. Although they often more approachable at an early age, they are equally capable of great longevity
