31/03/2005 - Wine Spectator ( James Suckling ) Note : 90 / 100 You have to like the plum, floral and berry aromas in this wine. Medium- to full-bodied, with firm tannins and a silky finish. Subtle sweet fruit at the end. Best after 2007. 1,665 cases made.

Situated on the right bank of the Gironde, just north-west of St. Emilion, Pomerol is the smallest of the Bordeaux regions. Unlike other appellations, it has no formal system of classification. Nonetheless, the wines command some of the highest of all prices – Indeed, Pomerol is home to the famous Chateau Petrus, one of the most expensive wines in the world. Merlot is the dominant grape here which, together with the vein of iron rich clay running through the soil, helps to give the wines a uniquely rich and smooth character. Although they often more approachable at an early age, they are equally capable of great longevity
