A beautiful Burgundy in colour, this wine has a scent of wild strawberries and autumn woodland; To drink, there's still plenty of crisp, red fruit but this is mellowing now into more complex savoury, meaty flavours balanced by subtle vanilla oak; Although medium bodied, there's plenty of structure from its velvety tannins; Really elegant and delicious with game or rich cheese dishes
Domaine Chanson has been producing fine wine in Burgundy since 1750. Likewise, their chief winemaker, Jean Pierre Confuron, comes from one of the oldest and most distinguished of Burgundy winemaking families - They even have a strain of Pinot Noir named after them, the "Pinot Confuron". Nowadays, Domaine Chanson is one of the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy with 45ha all located exclusively in Premier and Grand Cru sites. In 1999, it was purchased by the prestigious Bollinger family since when the quality of the wines has blossomed.

Pernand Vergelesses is a commune to the north of Burgundy's Cote de Beaune. This wine itself comes from a small vineyard in the heart of "Les Vergelesses", the most famous Premier Cru region of Pernand-Vergelesses. Much of the region is quite sheltered, but the best vineyards - such as 'Les Vergelesses' - are closer to the sunnier valley floor, which helps to give the wines a softer style. The area is generally better known for white wines, hence in the hands of a good producer, it often offers excellent value reds.
