In Valdepeñas, the Solís family, whose history in the wine business dates back to the end of the 19th century, bought the renowned “Casa del Huerto del Cura”, where they started to produce wine. Today it is known as the “Viña Albali” winery and acts as the headquarters of Félix Solís, S.A. It has retained the original warehouses, the tinajas (huge earthenware jars), the barrels (where some of its best wines are aged), the underground cellar and even the structure of this typical ancestral home of La Manch
Antolin Gonzalez
Félix Solís is located in Valdepeñas, the city of Ciudad Real which gives its name to the appellation DO Valdepeñas. The definitive constitution of this appellation took place in 1968, although it has been recognised since 1932. It is also one of the oldest wine regions in the country: grape pips have been found in the Iberian site of Cerro de las Cabezas, located less than ten kilometres from the city centre of Valdepeñas, thus proving that vines have been cultivated here for at least 2,700 years.

This is a very well-priced and drinkable with everything at anytime sort of wine which I have always found reliable and enjoyable. Highly recommended for that summer bbq or just for pleasant quaffing when the feeling takes you!

I am used to Spanish red but am disappointed with this choice. Could not get my usual Tempranillo :-( probably would not buy again. Wine has become overpriced in my opinion.

Very pleased to find a reasonably priced, very drinkable, on the smoother side, wine for everyday drinking. This was the second case that I bought after tasting it at my local Tesco.

One reviewer found this wine quite sour or sharp and i would have to agree. I actually found it to be a lot smoother tasting after being allowed to aerate.

I really enjoyed drinking this wine. It's delicious & I shall be buying more of it. It's ideal to drink with all types of meat dishes & pasta dishes. It's also very good on it's own.

in recent years Tesco has delivered many fine Spanish wines. This is a good young wine. Fresh, fruity, and, I have to say, CHEAP. A very good every day wine.

A fist class fruity and soft Spanish red. If you do not find this palatable you do not like red wine. When it's on offer and sometimes as low as £18.00 per case it's less than I pay in Spain.

I have been buying this particular wine for some time and it never disappoints. Fruity but always drinkable with any dish. Great value at the discounted price.

Strangely enough I was drinking this wine when I saw the email. It was purchased based upon the price and the description and it has not dissapointed. It is very plum and damson flavoured and quite smooth considering its age. I would certainly buy it again. Very good value.

We bought this for the name, as it was for our Great Grandson's Christening Perty. He is named Felix James, which I understand means Happy and Lucky. This also describes the wine!!!

If you like Spanish wine then this product is good value (particularly when it is often on offer). It does not have the tannin of an aged rioja but is fruity and smooth.

All the softness of Spanish red wine. A good even flavour without tannin or dryness. Speaks of sunshine and tavernas. Whilst using a Rioja grape it is lighter but well rounded. Plenty of fruit flavour makes it drinkable and warming on a wet rainy British winter day.

Smooth, excellent 'vino tinto ordinario'. Doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't. Pity it wasn't available during 25% off promotion.
