The wine has an intense and elegant aroma, with hints of fresh ripe apples, pears, and apricots, as well as nuances of tropical fruit.
On the palate it is rich, mellow, rounded and full-bodied, with a rich tropical character and a lingering finish.

To enjoy this wine at its best, drink within 1 year of purchase.
Victoria Moore - The Daily Telegraph 08/12/2012Of the 2011 vintage, Victoria Moore said: “Juicy peaches and apricots. Refreshing as rainwater. Crying out for a plate of crayfish tails. Or prawns with marie rose sauce. Made by Martin Codax and arguably better than their cheaper branded wine.”
The Wine Gang - thewinegang.com 01/01/2013From the Bodegas Martín Códax co-operative, this pure Albariño from close to the Atlantic coastline displays the typically attractive, bracingly fresh nose of the variety with refreshing apple and peachy fruit, a light spiciness and zesty fresh citrusy acidity to make it a pleasure to drink with seafood. A case of 'do be shellfish'.
In Meis (Galicia) stands an eighteenth century mansion: Pazo Torrequintáns. Its first owner was the Marchioness Julia, but after having been abandoned for several decades it was sold to the rich family Zenollera Velón. Sadly, the couple died leaving no children and Pazo Torrequintáns was inherited by their 18 nephews. They were not able to reach an agreement on how to split up the mansion, so the Pazo was abandoned. After some years, Pazo Torrequintáns was bought by a Galician family who understood the art of winemaking and 25 years ago they decided to plant Albariño grapes in all the lands that surround Pazo Torrequintáns, which is where this wine comes from.

In the appellation of Rías Baixas, most of vineyards are situated in close proximity to the sea. The soils are low-lying and are very deep, reaching at most 300 meters above sea level. Rías Baixas’ climate has an Atlantic influence with cool temperatures and high rainfall which decreases in summer time. The average temperature in winter is about 10ºC and there is only a little difference between the day and night. The Albariño grape is perfect for these conditions as its thicker skin helps it resist problems that can occur in a damp climate, and give it its distinctive tropical flavour and richness.

I am a fan of Albarino, but I really didn't like this one. It was acidic, lacked any body or subtlety, really quite unpleasant.

I've not knowingly drunk much Albarino before, although it is used in some Portuguese vino verde. The nose on this is a bit floral & appley. The taste is stunning; big rounded flavour, apple & citrus and floral; well balanced and a long finish. Brill & worth the price!

What a pity that you have changed your Albarino from the far more refined Pazo Serantellos. Your new provider is far more blunt and basic and sadly that will end my regular visits to your stores to stock up. A backward step for your selectors but onwards for me with the Wine Society and this excellent denomination.

Heard from a friend that you were doing an offer on the wine and took the opportunity of ordering a case, which arrived very promptly. Thank you.

Having been a long time fan of this grape Ii have for a good number of years been using Tesco's Albariño as my regylar house white. Great value and goes very well with all sorts of food.

I am from Cambados, which is the place in Spain where Albarino is original from. This Tesco Finest Albarino is from one of the best cellars in the area and thanks to Tesco you are paying a fraction of the price as this wine will not sell in Spain for less than 10 Euros a bottle. It is excellent, and I know a lot about Albarino being from the area. Thank you Tesco Wine for bringing me a bit of home.

This is not the best Albariño I've ever had, but neither is it the most expensive. It is young, fresh and delightful to drink either as an apéritif or as an accompaniment to fish or shellfish (as it does so often in Galicia, where it is produced). It is light (11%ABV) and slips down easily.
