An opulent red, with big, concentrated tastes of Morello cherries, mocha and vanilla spice.

This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 3 years
Olly Smith - Live Magazine, Mail on Sunday 20/01/2013Of the 2011 vintage, Olly Smith said: "This juicy, mellow red is a good all-rounder to pair with meatier Chinese dishes. Fruity, soft, dark and a decent week-night glugger."
'La Francese' is the locals' nickname for Gaetane Carron, the French winemaker who charmed the growers in Abruzzo into giving her their very best Montepulciano grapes. She has a real passion for wines and insists on being closely involved in the entire process, vine to glass.
Gaetane Carron
This wine is produced from some of the very best grapes grown in the hillside vineyards of Central Abruzzo.

A good reasonable red to accompany italian casseroles, chilli con carne or a good pizza. Just needs a bit of time to breathe in a warm room at this time of year to enjoy at its best. A good alternative to the Nero d'Avola.

I served this with our Christmas dinner and there were no complaints. For the price, this was very drinkable and I would buy it again.

We have been drinking this wine for the last six months and find it very smooth and palatable. We also used it to make mulled wine for our drinks party and it went down so well.

At the sale price of less than 4 pounds one cannot fault this lovely tasty Italian treat. Not too heavy on the palate but with a little tannin this is a great wine for easy drinking. I have gone through 6 in two weeks and enjoyed it immensely. Is it fine wine? No of course not but its a great drink and remarkable value

We have enjoyed drinking this wine as it seams to satisfy most peoples tastes. I enjoy a smooth fruity wine while my husband usually lkes to savour a more full bodied wine. This Montepulciano however suits us both. That makes it any excellent wine to be able to offer to guests when you don't know their paricular tastes. It also reminds us of wonderful holidays in the Umbrian mountains in the warmth of the Italian summers.

The opulent colour and bouquet tell you all you need to know here. The flavour experience does not disappoint. Nice job.

Very fruity and juicy, sour /tart cherries mainly with a little vanilla. I know the term smooth is used a lot in wine tasting but this was pretty smooth hardly any tannic kick but a nice pleasant soft feel. It was when combined with that first mouthful of Spaghetti that this wine came alive and perhaps a little too drinkable. I found myself drinking this effortlessly along with the food, not the most flavoursome of wines but there was something that made it the perfect match for any pasta meal and at 13% alcohol the easiness of drinking became, well easy.

A very pleasant wine, packed with flavour. Good with most meats and cheese or just to enjoy a glass on its own.

this is a nice red for the money and will go well with some stilton or a red meat dish . At the right price would buy again but being a yorkshire man at hart would not pay full price for a wine of this quality.

A delicious wine with a fantastic fruity bouquet and a smoothness that belies its price. It is perfect with most dishes but is just as delightful on its own. Packed with sunshine and character. Only problem is that all my children like it too.

I have been a big fan of this wine for years, it really is superb especially with Italian dishes, it just seems to draw extra flavour from such dishes - fabulous.
