Made for us by the Caves de Buxy, this White Burgundy is the classic expression of the Chardonnay grape – the flavours are restrained and subtle with notes of peach and pear, lifted by a touch of vanilla from the oaked element to round it all off.

Olly Smith - Live Magazine, Mail on Sunday 10/03/2013Of the 2011 vintage, Olly Smith said: "This Chardonnay has a round texture and is sensitively oaked so as to preserve the zesty fruit character. Fermented in-barrel and aged for nine months, it's very upbeat and moreish."
Jane MacQuitty - The Times 02/03/2013Of the 2011 vintage, Jane MacQuitty said: "Tesco's white Burgundies can be surprisingly tasty, and this easy-sipping 2011 from a top Cote Chalonnaise co-op, oozes delicious spicy, nutty fruit."
The idyllic village of Buxy is home to the 160 members which make up the Caves de Vignerons de Buxy. This is one of the real gems of the BCB Group, with a brilliant young winemaking team backed up by an innovative and highly experienced management.

The vineyards’ south easterly position and altitude protect the vines from the strong westerly winds and savage frosts, whilst at the same time allowing them to bask in the sun during the summer.

When on offer this represents very good value. It's dry, medium bodied, ideal for an aperitif or for drinking with fish and chicken. It's as good as we have tasted in France and, whilst trying others, we always go back to this one.

All French wiine in England costs much more than it does in France. That said, this by English standards, is a very good classic white Burgundy and represents very good value. I am currently on the 2011 vintage and I drink it every night as an aperitif before dinner at 8 o'clock in front of a an open wood fire in a Louis XV fireplace. Happy moment.

The colour and body was good for a wine of this price. We pass through the region every year, and have never found the time to stop and taste the wine. We will next year.

This review is for the 2011 vintage
You need to keep an eye out for this one as it does not come on offer very often - because it is a quality wine. When it does fill your boots. Great alterantive to Chablis.

Bought this because being a Finest wine could double up on vouchers, as good as my normal choice and a fraction of the price with the offers

This is such good value for money for an excellent everyday drinking wine. It is dry without being sharp and has a full bodied taste which is always consistent. It goes well with all food but especially fish and vegetarian food, and I have yet to serve it to someone who does not like it. I have purchased this wine on numerous occasions and will continue to do so in the future.
