Richly flavoured with plum and black cherry fruit flavours leading into hints of dark chocolate and jam followed by a big, fruit-packed finish.

This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 2 years
Victoria Moore - Telegraph Weekend 26/01/2013Of the 2011 vintage, Victoria Moore: "You have to be careful when hunting for this as there’s also a Finest Cotes Catalanes Grenache and the two labels look almost the same. Actually both are good but I think the Carignan has a bit more personality, all brambles and fresh figs, a jolly, easy-going red that’s good with sausage and bean casserole.”
Herve Sabardeil
Situated in the far South of France around some of the Cotes du Roussillon Villages, Baixas and La Tour de France, found to the west of Perpignan.

Had this as my first tipple in 2 weeks & was immediately reminded of what a tasty, fruity medium bodied wine this is.. This is a reliable performer whether you're la-de-da-ing with friends or just having a glass to yourself on the couch..

One of my favourite French wines, almost sweet plumb and fruit flavours, good on its own or with food. One of the best Tesco wines we have tried, will definitely order again when on special offer. Lovely wine.

We really enjoy this wine for a mid-week drink. Good flavour which lingers on the palate.

I really enjoyed this wine. It has a big rustic style with a rich cherry flavour. Vg with steak. As one of the other reviews states it opens up a lot when a little warmer so worth getting up to room temperature.

I'm really reiterating what many have said. Interestingly, this wine was also recommended by The Daily Telegraph and it didn't disappoint. I'm quite picky about my reds and on the same lines as another Reviewer, tend to opt for New World wines. This is a cracker of a wine. I'll be keeping my eye open for when it comes on offer.

I first received this wine in a mixed case and couldn't believe that such a great wine had been included for the bargain price. I ordered another mixed case and have since had cases of just this when it was on offer. It really is an exceptional wine and I must admit I do not usually drink French wine.

I usually prefer New World wines because of their fruit driven flavours. French wines, at most price points that I can afford, tend to be a little too austere and thin for my taste. This one was a revelation though, medium bodied and bursting with black fruit flavours. I had to look again at the label to convince myself that it was indeed a French wine! Flavoursome enough to accompany hearty red meat dishes but smooth enough to quaff by itself. Definitely one of my favourites.

Very good value for the price. A lightish but fruity taste with no sharp edges! Very pleasant drinking.

THis wine really is very nice, big fruity flavours, and very soft on on the tongue. I've ordered this product several times now and it has not diappointed.

This was the first wine we ever bought from Tesco Direct, and we've re-ordered. It's smooth, rounded, fruity, and goes with a wide variety of food. It was much admired by discerning party guests. It doesn't look flashy, but it's fantastic value.

One of the better £5 reds available. A good example of reds from the Cotes Catalan, a backbone of red cherries with a raspberry zing of acidity, will buy again..

This is a rich quality wine which initially I bought because of a Janet Mcquitty (Times wine correspondent) recommendation. I have bought many bottles since and all have been of the same quality.
