Welcome to Tesco Wine by the case.
We hope you enjoy your visit.
Known as the King of Wines in Italy, and for good reason.
Made from the magnificent Nebbiolo grape from the Piedmont region in northern Italy, the flavours are bold.
Think truffles and roses, with lots of black fruits.
One to serve with roasted red meats.
This wine can be drunk now but will further improve if carefully stored for up to 4 years
Olly Smith - Live (The Mail on Sunday) 25/11/2012
Of the 2008 vintage, Olly Smith said: “A great intro to Barolo with aromas of truffle and rosé, rich flavours that take no prisoners so pair with a steak or slab of Parmesan. Classic Barolo from a good vintage made by the mighty Matteo Ascheri.”
Hamish Anderson - Daily Telegraph Magazine 08/12/2012
Of the 2008 vintage, Hamish Anderson said: “It is rare to find good Barolo under £20 – this is a stone-cold bargain from one of the region’s best modern estates. It is typical of the local nebbiolo grape – a delicate, perfumed nose and light colour deceive. This is powerful wine of leather, black cherry and allspice. If goose is your bird of choice, look no further.”
Founded in La Morra, Piedmont with the first vines planted in the early 19th century, Cantina Ascheri moved to Bra in 1880. Since then Ascheri have produced wines true to the Barolo area, but focussed on modern-day consumer tastes.
Barolo is a classic region where the Nebbiolo grape is king. Barolo can be said to be one of Italy's finest areas for red wines
