A rich, smooth red wine with violet and vanilla aromas and mouth filling flavours or ripe summer berries.

This wine can be drunk now but will further improve if carefully stored for up to 3 years
Jane MacQuitty - The Times 01/12/2010A rich, velvety, curranty, inky red at a seductive, rock-bottom price
The Wine Gang - www.thewinegang.com 23/08/2010Kulapelli doesn't sound particularly Chilean, but this couldn't come from anywhere else, combining minty Cabernet with chocolatey Carmemere. The oak is nicely handled, too, balanced by meaty tannins and refreshing acidity. Score: 87/100 − £8.99 at Tesco
The winery is one of the most modern in Chile and also the first winery in Chile with a certification to offset its CO² emissions. Kulapelli is the name for the “three spirits” who used to inhabit the Maipo valley where the grapes are now grown. Alejandro Galaz, Chief Winemaker at Vina Ventisquero, has been working there since 2002. His experience is represented in the quality and complexity found in this Finest* blend. It showcases the elegance of the wines that the Maipo Valley produces.
Alejandro Galaz
The Maipo Valley is the source of many of Chile´s most renowned red wines. The Kullapelli vineyard produces outstanding reds with an intense aroma and great balance. The Maipo river runs from the Andes through the valley that bears its name and is the vines major source of water.

This Chilean wine is our favourite as we find that it compliments every sort of meal. We can rely upon it to be of a consistent standard and can confidently serve it to dinner guests. We are always complimented on our choice of wine. The flavour is rich without being over powering, but full and satisfying.

I note many positive comments about the 2011 vintage of this blend which are very much in line with my enjoyment of earlier years. I must have been very unlucky with the recent cases of the 2011 deivered to me as I have found the bottles drunk so far have been far below the standard I had become accustomed to from this wine. I found it thin, light in both body and colour, very lacking in the full, spicy flavours of earlier vintages and when I did a direct comparison with a 2010 vintage bottle I still had the difference was staggering - the 2011 seemed a watered down version or a poor quality merlot at best. This wine was on my list of regular buys but I would not want more of this quality.

Very reasonable wine. Benefited from putting through a vinturi. Good with food e.g. goulash, but could be drunk as everyday wine.

This is the fifth vintage of this excellent blend I have bought and it never disappoints. The use of Carmenere with the Cab Sav gives a distinct character. You will have to pay a lot more to get anything better. We were happy to use the 2007 vintage as table wine at our son's wedding - and so were our guests!

I purchased this wine as it was on offer for around half the regular price at £5.99, at that price it represents good value for money. It is a medium dark colour, has a smooth mellow flavour , ripe with berries and an aftertaste of vanilla essence that leaves the mouth brimming with taste. Can be shelved for a couple of years but I will enjoy it now. I would highly recommend when on offer again and would revisit myself. I would probably look for a smoother full Chilean Carmenere or a good quality Argentinian Malbec if I was wanting a special wine for a special event though. Overall 8 / 10.

I prefer Carmenere on its own as I like wines with plenty of body but this is a good mix and produces a very drinkable red. I have bought previous years and it is always good quality. Needs to be bought at the right price, however.

A nice very drinkable wine which we came across 'by accident'. We liked it so much as a good every day wine that we bought a second box and may well add more before it runs out. It is our sort of wine, about the right sweetness and very smooth especially after warming and breathing.

A very mediocre wine which quite honestly I only bought because of the double up points tokens. I have to say I find Tesco's finest very disappointing and wont be purchasing again - I would rather buy a really good bottle of wine when on half price offer.

A superb red, great value for money, better than many reds twice the price. Easy to drink with a great taste. Good with just about any food and on it's own. Will certainly buy this wine again.

This is undoubtedly one of the best red wines I have had for some time and exceedingly good value when it was on offer at half-price.

Another little gem. Strong enough to cope with a rich meat sauce and with meat smothered with garlic. Yet still affordable - especially if Tesco gives me a coupon. We pay too much for a brand name and tradition - this one is for red wine drinkers who can't afford the fancy prices asked for French plonk.

I don't normally drink red wine by itself but this cab sav carmenere is so smooth, mellow and delicious that I found myself happily imbibing. Although mellow it is by no means bland.and there are lots of lovely fruit flavours to enjoy. So good that when we tried the first bottle I went online and bought a dozen more.

This 13.5% blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere is created in Chile's second largest wine-producing area [Cental Valley Region]. Within that area lies the Maipo Valley, home ot the Kulapelli vinyard, maker of this delightful, fruity and well-balanced accompaniment to red meats, stews and tasty casseroles. It will become even better if kept for a few years - but can you resist it for that long. Doubtful.

I'll echo what most reviews say about this wine its simply superb. Smooth to drink, i've just ordered another 12 bottles on line. I bought a bottle by accident at my local store, and after searching for the perfect wine i think i've found it.Homer

A generous 3 stars only due to the price tag being under £5. Nice blackcurrent nose but on the palate I found it a bit unbalanced, an unpleasant 'stalky' finish, slightly medicinal. There's well made wines with good tannin levels and there cheaply made wines where too much green is thrown in... Having said that, not a deal breaker with red meat as it does stand up to it but without food it's floors are highlighted..

This is one of my favourite wines - very smooth and flavourful without too much tannin. Over the years it has been consistently good and is particularly excellent value when on offer. The current Clubcard Voucher exchange deal combined with 33% discount bring it down to £3/bottle - an absolute bargain!

I've tried a good number of the Tesco range wines over the last few years and often 'take a chance' on something I've never tried. But I still come back to this one ! It's just perfect for me - very smooth, full of flavour and not too 'heavy'. I've introduced a number of friends to this and they all agree - a great wine and, when it's on offer , excellent value.

Quite a bit of depth to this wine, with a hint of bitterness to complement the full red fruit flavours. It's gratifying that the alcohol content is a modest 13.5%, setting it against the trend of overly powerful reds. Exceptional value at the sale price I bought it at; probably worth the usual list price.

We love this well rounded full bodied red wine from Chile. It has aromas of blackberries and a slightly peppery finish. It goes very nicely with any red meat and is also very drinkable on it's own. We visited Chile earlier this year and loved drinking their Carmenere when we visited the vineyards and this wine is as good as those we tasted. We highly recommend this wine for the Christmas celebrations.

I buy this wine regularly, it's my favourite. deliciosly smooth yet fairly full bodied I find the blend is nicer than a straight Cabernet or Carmenere, Shiraz etc. Smooth and fruity , everyone I give this to says from the first mouthful - it's delicious.
