Lifted aromas of pepper spice and nutmeg with lashings of blackberry mixed with spearmint.
Followed by a full bodied but seamless array of choc-mint, raspberries and black cherry, all finished with well-seasoned oak.
This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 5 years
Matthew Jukes - Weekend, Daily Mail 23/02/2013
Of the 2010 vintage, Matthew Jukes said: “Don’t miss out on this case deal. The addition of 3 per cent cabernet and 3 per cent Malbec gives this wine a twist of cassis and spice…”
The late Jim Barry was a pioneer of the Australian wine industry. He was the first qualified winemaker to work in the Clare Valley of South Australia and with his wife, Nancy, built a successful wine business which has produced trophy-winning wines since its establishment in 1959.
With its beautiful rolling hills, ideal winter rainfall, Mediterranean climate, soil variation and vineyard orientation, Jim Barry's Lodge Hill vineyard in the Clare Valley carries a unique history and winemaking heritage. The Shiraz vineyard has soils of rich, chocolaty loam over almost vertical sheets of rock, providing passage for the vine roots and free drainage - the ideal environment for low-yielding shiraz vines.
