Jane MacQuitty - Weekend, The Times 11/07/2015
Of the 2014 vintage, Jane MacQuitty said: "No top 100 collection is complete without my pick of the New Zealand Sauvignons. Summer 2015's keenly priced option is Tesco finest* made at Yealands winery in Marlborough. This is gloriously verdant, spicy, gooseberry and new-mown-grass-laden sauvignon with a classic, tongue-tingling, luscious passion fruit finish."
Located in the southern Awatere Valley sub-region of Marlborough, Yealands Estate is arguably the most ambitious family-owned vineyard enterprise in New Zealand. Few could grasp the breadth of Peter Yealands' vision when he took on the challenge of creating terraced vineyards amongst these rolling foothills in the late 90s.
Located at the north eastern corner of New Zealand's South Island, Marlborough’s winegrowing region is bounded by the Pacific Ocean in the east and towering mountain ranges in the north and south. A broad alluvial plain stretches from the coastline, gradually rising into narrow valleys with favourable northerly aspects.
