Product Details

Tasting Notes

This is a lovely off-dry style of Cava, made from the traditional blend of grapes - Macabeo, Parellada and Xarel-lo - but with a hint of sweetness.

Lots of fresh apple and lemon fruit, and a hint of toastiness.

Makes a great partner to fresh fruit, especially strawberries.

Expert Opinion

In the press...

"In summer, a chilled glass of lightly sweet champagne or sparkling wine makes a great match for puddings. This is a delicious inexpensive example of the style, and has crisp fruit flavours."

Giles Kime - Sunday Telegraph 08/06/2014

Background

History

In 1551, Jaume Codorníu began making still wines in Penedès, Spain. In 1872, having studied the ‘champenoise method’ of sparkling wine production in Northern France, Josep Raventós, a descendant of Codorníu, applied the technique to the traditional Penedès grape varieties of Macabeo, Parellada & Xarel.Lo and created the first bottle of Cava. Today Codorníu is an award-winning winery with the best selling Cava brand in the UK and back home in Spain.
