Jane Parkinson - BBC Saturday Kitchen 23/01/2016
Of the 2012 vintage, Jane Parkinson said: “Penfolds is responsible for making Australia’s most iconic wine, Grange. But because it makes such a broad spectrum of red wines, we can get a slice of this producer without blowing the budget. This is a blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes so it’s going to have real black pepper spice and liquorice on the nose. So succulent and juicy with blackcurrant flavours - an Australian legend to a legendary Scottish recipe.”
Founder, Dr. Christopher Rawson Penfold emigrated from England to Adelaide in 1844, bringing with him vine cuttings from the South of France. He established the Magill vineyard and winery, marking the beginning of one of the worlds great wine stories.
