Tasting Notes

Delightfully crisp and fruity, this fabulous sparkling rosado is scented with berry fruits and has a lovely, sweet aftertaste.

Made from black grapes, it spends a short time in contact with the dark skins to produce its wonderful pink colour.

Expert Opinion

What our expert says

The award-winning Elyssia range from Freixenet takes the best Cava traditions and combines them with a bold, modern approach to winemaking with spectacular results

In the press...

"Here is a high-end Cava that is beautifully packaged. A full pink colour, it has lively red cherry, raspberry and strawberry fruit flavours as well as nice purity. This is sophisticated stuff."

Jamie Goode - S Magazine, Sunday Express 05/04/2015

“A high end cava with lively cherry, raspberry and strawberry flavours.”

Eileen Leahy - Saturday Magazine, Daily Express 18/04/2015

Based in Catalonia, northeast Spain, and founded in the 19th century, Freixenet remains a family business. With winery estates worldwide, Freixenet has grown to become one of the world's leading producers of both still and sparkling wine. Penedès in Catalonia is the largest and most important sparkling wine region. It is split into 3 zones ranging in altitude from 250m to 800m above sea level, each with a distinct climate.

Regional info

The Pinot Noir grapes are grown at the Mas Bernich vineyard at Masquefa in the High Penedès, on sandy-clay soil. The Trepat grapes are grown on chalky soils low in organic matter. The Pinot Noir vines are wire trained and Double Cordon-Royat pruned. They are pruned down to 27,000 bunches per hectare, in order to limit the yield to 6,500kg per hectare.
