Made by Marcelo Papa, one of Chile's most celebrated winemakers, this is a single vineyard Syrah from the Maipo Valley - Incredibly intense, this is rich and ripe with black cherry fruit flavours and beautifully supple tannins - Great with steak or strong, hard cheeses.
This wine can be drunk now but will further improve if carefully stored for up to 5 years

Of the 2012 vintage, Helen McGinn said: "If you're in the mood for a big red, this is one such. Made by Chilean giants Concha Y Toro from Syrah grapes grown on a single estate in the Maipo Valley. It's got a ton of bramble fruits, loads of spice and smooth vanilla flavours. Really, really smart wine for the money but as mentioned, it's not a shy wine. Rather more shouty, actually. Think Punch rather than Judy."
Terry Kirby - The Independent on Sunday 21/06/2012
Of the 2012 vintage, Terry Kirby said: "Chile is not just about chocolatey Carmenere or bracing Sauvignon Blanc; this is a full-blooded, food friendly Syrah with some peppery spice and vanilla from oak-ageing, but also with enough time to soften around the edges and allow the rich fruit flavours full expression."
Marques de Casa Concha is a small range of single vineyard wines made from classic grape varieties. Winemaker Marcelo Papa chooses the most suitable location for each grape variety and also uses a variety of French oak barrels from some of the best cooperages in France to achieve an elegant and harmonious style to this austere range of wines.
Edging up the Andes Mountains the vineyard for this Syrah is cool climate, giving rise to a flinty, pure Syrah. Cooling winds drift down from the Andes Mountains and ensure that the vines do not over-heat and therefore ripen too early. This vineyard is also heavily influenced by the El Nino effect - all ensuring optimum vine growth.
