The Tesco magazine Mum of the Year Awards ceremony is always a truly inspirational occasion – and this year was no exception. Meet the extraordinary women who received our Mum awards here and read their amazing stories.

From Iris Billing who set a charity to help young cancer sufferers, Tanya's Courage, in memory of her daughter; to Vali Bugden who's fostered well over 100 troubled children, giving them a new direction in life, and Linda James who launched an online support service Bulliesout.

Meet Sheryl Greentree, whose charity Water for Africa, has already saved thousands of lives; the courageous Sarah Hill supporting others in the midst of family adversity; the caring Mridula Jain giving quality of life to a disabled son and raising money for others; and Dorothy Higgins campaigning for Muscular Dystrophy and giving support to over a hundred families in her local community.

Each year we look out for women who've shown incredible bravery and dedication or who have campaigned tirelessly to help others or inspired others beyond belief for these Tesco awards – and this year our Mums are as exceptional as ever.

Our thoroughly deserving winners all enjoyed a glamorous day out in London at our star-studded Awards ceremony. They met a host of celebrities and were wined, dined and pampered – and generally treated as the very special ladies that they truly are – see our video and picture gallery here.
