Meet the professionals
Professional help and advice is available from our in-store Pharmacies
When you care about your health, it’s good to know professional help and advice is available from our in-store Pharmacies. All Tesco pharmacists (there are about 400 in the UK) can provide help and advice on medicines and common health issues. And, if you have a regular prescription, you can use the free Medicine Use Review service, which gives you the opportunity to speak to the pharmacist about the medicines you take on a regular basis to help you understand them better. All pharmacy support staff are trained to help manage your health, and provide guidance on the medicines you buy. To find your Pharmacy, visit www.tesco.com/health. There are dedicated teams of Tesco pharmacists and support staff nationwide.
Blooming marvellous
More great news that pregnancy is good for you – in many cases, with the added benefit of lower blood pressure, new research from the US has found*. By tracking the health of more than 2,300 women until their child was 20, the research found the effects can last for decades. The theory behind the lower blood pressure is that pregnancy makes blood vessels more flexible – but it only works when you have your first child. The importance of lower heart pressure in preventing kidney disease is highlighted on World Kidney Day on 12 March. Kidney damage is seen in 10 per cent of adults with unhealthy lifestyles. Visit www.worldkidneyday.org for further information and a factsheet about keeping your kidneys in good working order.

Patched up
A clever skin patch has been invented that might speed the healing process using ultrasound waves. PainShield is useful for combating pain in joints or muscles. Ultrasound equipment has been used for years in sports medicine, and is believed to boost blood supply, hence the flow of oxygen and nutrients to injuries. The new patch – developed in Israel – is connected by wires to a device on a belt. It could be available in the UK later this year.
