The dramatic changes forecast for the
planet are already endangering the
future of numerous species, including
the polar bear. Electricity generation is
probably the single biggest contributor
to carbon emissions and climate
change*.
But changing to a renewable energy
supplier using mainly wind, solar or
hydro generated energy shouldn't put
your bills up and could even save
money. So far 500,000 UK households
have done so and it's worth considering
whether we could all make a difference
in this way. Find out more at

If you light up with energy-efficient light
bulbs in place of standard ones then you
can have the same light for about a
quarter of the energy; save on your bills;
reduce the amount of carbon dioxide
emitted over the six-year life of the
product by 122kg; and have them last
between six and 15 times longer than a
standard bulb. Tesco has
now permanently
halved the price
of all
energy-saving
light bulbs so
you can buy
them for as
little as 81p. |
These include cutting carbon emissions from existing stores by at least 50 per cent by
2020; new ways to encourage customers to buy green with a 'green' labelling system to
allow everyone to compare and shop for items that require less energy to produce; and
doubling the proportion of bio-fuels sold in Tesco petrol stations across Britain. He hopes
this raft of planned strategies will help in making green consumerism a mass movement. |
