Tesco charity of the year 2007
Over the past ten months Tesco employees have worked hard to support the 2007
Charity of the Year, The British Red Cross. The joint fundraising target for the year
is £2 million, and employees have organized all sorts of events and activities to
help us reach the total.

An energetic team from Tesco Extra in Warrington raised a staggering £1,200 after completing
a 66 mile bike ride in under 10 hours! This is just one of the ways Tesco staff got involved and
raised some money for The British Red Cross.

The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. Part of a global
voluntary network, they respond to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies.
For example, Red Cross’ Crisis Care in your Neighbourhood campaign exists to help people at
local level. This means all money raised will directly benefit people in local communities. This
was one of the most important things to Tesco when it selected the Charity of the Year.
