What is SMA Gold?
SMA Gold is a nutritionally complete infant milk. It is the first SMA infant milk you should choose if you decide not to breast feed or to complement breast feeding. The SMA starter pack is designed for those who have chosen to bottle feed or combination feed their baby. It provides 12 complete hygienic feeding units.
When you should use different infant milks.
0 -12 months SMA Gold; First infant milk from birth onwards.
0 -12 SMA White; If your baby is still hungry after a feed and not yet ready for weaning, you may wish to talk to your Healthcare Professional about using SMA White.
6 -24 months SMA Progress; Follow-on milk from 6 months to 2 years. Contains extra vitamins and minerals to complement the weaning diet.

Baby's tongue presses against the flat underside, encouraging the jaw area to widen, which helps to create the correct spacing for tooth development.
The feed hole points upwards so milk is directed towards the baby's palate and mixes with saliva for good digestion.
Flat, slender neck promotes airtight sucking action, which aids baby's jaw and palate development.
Angled surface encourages the baby to make a sucking action with the lower jaw in order to receive its nourishment.
NUK Air System: Vent on upper side helps to prevent the teat collapsing and baby swallowing air - helping to prevent colic (It is important that the vent is under the baby's nose whilst feeding.)

Important Teat Information:

Teats are produced from natural rubber latex, which may cause allergic reactions.
Glass bottles may break.
Disposable teat (for single use only).
This NUK disposable hygienic ready to use teat is a size 1 teat (appropriate for babies from 0-6 months) with a feed hole suitable for infant milk. Use with SMA gold 100 ml bottles.
Give your baby's feed only in the quantities and concentrations recommended by the manufacturer.
Always check the food temperature before feeding.
Always use this product with adult supervision.
Continuous and prolonged sucking of fluids may cause tooth decay.
Never use feeding teats as a soother.
The NUK disposable hygienic ready to use teat (manufactured for SMA Nutrition) conforms to the requirements of EN14350.
Preparing the feed.
Failure to follow instructions may make your baby ill.
1. Wash hands well.
2. SMA Gold 100 ml can be fed at room temperature. If required to heat, stand the bottle in warm water.
3. Shake bottle well, and remove lid. Unwrap NUK hygienic ready to use teat and holding the teat ring, screw directly onto the bottle.
4. If warmed, test temperature by shaking a few drops of milk onto the inside of wrist. Milk should be lukewarm.

SMA Gold* Important feeding information.
Before use, shake bottle well, remove lid and attach a NUK disposable hygienic ready to use teat.
Use contents of bottle within 4 hours of opening.
If fed from bottle, discard contents within an hour of opening.
After use, discard bottle, teat and remaining contents.
Contains LCPs (Omega 3 & 6) and Nucleotides.

Never add any food to the milk in your baby's bottle.
Do not heat feeds in a microwave oven as this may cause uneven heating and could scald your baby's mouth.
Remember, cows' milk should not be used as the main milk drink during the first year.
Important notice.
Breast feeding is best for babies. SMA infant milks are intended to replace breast milk when mothers do not breast feed. You should always seek the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian or pharmacist on the need for and proper method of use of infant milks and on all matters of infant feeding.
Good dental hygiene is as important for babies and toddlers as it is for older children and adults. Prolonged or frequent contact of drinks or feeds with the teeth, e.g. from using bottles or beakers as comforters, increases the risk of tooth decay. Use a cup or beaker by 6 months if possible, and in any case as soon as the first tooth appears. In accordance with normal dental hygiene, your baby's teeth should be cleaned after the last feed at night. Ask your Healthcare Professional or Dentist for advice. Never leave your baby alone during feeding.
This product contains both milk and soybean products, which makes it unsuitable for feeding infants with milk and/or soybean allergies.
