SIM only is a great way of changing tariffs without the expense of buying a new phone. Here’s a quick guide to help you decide if SIM only is right for you.
A SIM is the little card that is in the back of your phone. It’s the SIM that holds your phone number and connects you to your network.
For example to join Tesco Mobile you could keep your existing phone and just replace your current SIM with a Tesco Mobile SIM card.
Some phones are locked to a network and will need unlocking before you can use another SIM card in them. Your current network provider will be able to help you but may charge to unlock your phone.
SIM only allows you to join a network simply by changing your SIM card rather than changing your phone. On Tesco Mobile you can choose SIM only on Pay as you go or Pay monthly.

Because you're not covering the cost of a new phone over the term of a 12, 18 or even 24 month contract we can put all the value into your calls, texts and browsing. So if you're happy with your current mobile phone, SIM only Pay monthly is a great way of getting maximum value for your monthly spend.

On Tesco Mobile there is only a 1 month rolling contract with SIM only Pay monthly. So while we're sure you won't want to, you have the freedom to leave at any time – we just need 30 days notice.

On the Tesco Mobile SIM only Unlimited tariff you can call, text and browse to your heart's content, all for £30 a month. Calls, texts and picture messages are to any UK mobile and any UK landline starting 01, 02 or 03, at any time. There is a fair usage policy of £500 - although we're pretty sure you won't manage to use it all!
Many people would rather be on Pay as you go but want a better tariff. If this is the case, and you’re happy with your current phone, then SIM only is for you.
