You still enjoy all of the benefits of shopping in your local store with the highest quality products, the best service, and low prices - and yes, you still earn Clubcard points with every purchase.

Searching for an item

All the shopping sites have a search facility on the top left hand side of the screen. Enter the product you are looking for, and click the 'find' link to the right of the search box to see a list of matching results.

The search engine will only look through the contents of the store you are in, so for instance if you searched for the word 'lemon' in the grocery store, you would find fresh lemons and lemon bleach, but in the bookstore it might bring up the book 'Driving over Lemons'.

Once you have done the search you can browse the products as usual without having to put them in your shopping basket.

Tip - try to avoid using lots of words and/or very common words like 'the', because these will slow the search.

(Remember that more specific information about searching for products can be found on individual stores' help pages as the search feature varies slightly between the stores.)

How does my shopping basket work?

Just like a shopping basket in a supermarket, you can put things in your basket (by clicking on the 'add to basket' button) without having to buy them - it is just a way of holding onto things that you are interested in. You are not committing to a purchase until you take your selected item(s) through the checkout. However, you cannot purchase an item until it has been added to your basket, so remember to check the contents of your basket carefully before you check out.

You can check what is in your basket at any time by clicking on the 'basket' link at the top of the screen. If you want to remove something, simply change the quantity to zero (0) and click on 'amend basket'.

When you have finished your shopping in any of the stores, click on the 'checkout' tab. At this point you will be asked to enter your delivery date and time. Once this has been confirmed you can enter your payment details.

Note - You will have to register for the grocery service before you can use the store. This is so we can check that you have a delivery address within an area that we cover for this service.

Can I return items?

At Tesco.com we aim to provide a first class service for our customers. However, should you discover a problem upon delivery, we want to help put matters right.

Please note that products bought from the web-site stores CANNOT (with the exception of grocery) be returned to Tesco grocery stores.

The returns policy varies according to the product and the warehouse it was purchsed from, so we ask you to go to the specific refund help pages belonging to that warehouse. We have included links to all of these help pages below.

Grocery

If you wish to return grocery items and discover this before the driver has left (usually by checking your receipt, which will tell you about any items which have been substituted) you can give these items back to your driver and he or she will return them to the store, at which point your card will be refunded.

If the driver has already left before you discover items you wish to refund, please contact our grocery customer service team, who will be happy to assist you:

Telephone 08457 225533, 9am to 11pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 6pm Sunday. If you wish to email us, please log in and click on the 'Email Us' link in the Grocery Help pages.
