What is the Mole Check?
Tesco Pharmacy has teamed up with Screen4Life to offer a new skin cancer screening service, where you can have your moles checked in a private consultation area at a time that is convenient for you.

5 reasons to get a mole check
1. Skin cancer risk
Skin cancer cases are on the rise in the UK, with 200 new cases being diagnosed every day. While it’s a serious condition, it’s also one that can go undiagnosed for some time. There are three types of skin cancer – melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma. All three are checked in the screening.
2. Early detection saves lives
The most effective way to treat a problem is with early detection. Using the latest skin imaging technology means the detection process is immediate – no long waiting period.
3. A non-invasive procedure
The Tesco Mole Check is a painless, harmless procedure. You don’t need to do anything to prepare and the technology does not harm your skin.
4. Expert information and advice
Screen4Life’s trained nurses are experts in skin screening and are able to answer any questions you have and provide further information on keeping your skin safe for the future.
5. Peace of mind
You’ll have one less thing to worry about by booking today and getting checked regularly.
Where does the screening take place?
In the private consultation area at the Tesco Pharmacy.
What does it involve?
Three Easy Steps
- Make an appointment - Book online at www.screen4life.co.uk/tesco/info.php or call 0800 988 6653 or head to your local Tesco Pharmacy counter to make an appointment for your Mole Check. Choose which level of screening you require, from Bronze, Silver or Gold.
- Turn up for your screening - You don’t have to do anything to prepare. Simply arrive about five minutes before your appointment to complete a consent form.
- Get your results immediately - The Screen4Life nurse will explain your results and discuss any next steps or simply offer you advice on taking care of your skin.
You will be asked to complete a brief medical questionnaire before a trained Screen4Life nurse performs the check using the latest, non-invasive skin imaging technology. In addition to the surface scan, the screening also scans two millimetres below, looking at different parts of the skin – collagen, blood and melanin. The immediate results are analysed by the nurse. This takes about 20 minutes.
What are the outcomes of the test?
The nurse will talk through your results and provide you with a copy on request. If need be your results may be referred to a specialist for further interpretation.
What happens if you are referred?
Any scan the nurse feels requires further investigation will be sent to a specialist consultant team who will take a further look at the results. You will receive a response within 72 hours.
