Piccini's story began in 1882 with Angiolo Piccini, who owned only 7 ha of vineyards in the Chianti area. Even today, Piccini is still 100% family owned by Mario and Martina Piccini who mark the 4th generation of the family. Piccini is situated in Castellina in Chianti and is one of the biggest players in Tuscany.
The production area runs parallel to the beaches of northern Maremma, located in the province of Livorno, in the town of Castagneto Carducci. To the east, a chain of hills runs between Bibbona and Castagneto, protecting the vineyards from the cold winds from the north, which often provoke lethal freezes during the winter. In the summer, this corridor is swept by cool winds that are generated between the valleys of the Cecina river to the north, and the Cornia stream to the south.
