Once the pressing has taken place the wine although held within temperature controlled tanks is allowed a certain freedom to start its fermentation process and is then brought under control having allowed the wine to extract good colour and soften up its natural tannins. The wine has a long fermentation period with a certain amount of pumping over to help drive a degree of ageing. The wine is then fined and racked off into further stainless steel tanks prior to filtration and bottling.
The winery is now one of the leading private family owned wineries in Italy. Created in 1986, the main production facility is based in Calmasino on the right hand side of Lake Garda, boasts one of the most modern facilities anywhere in Europe and with a real culture of putting quality first.
The winery is in Lombardia below the town of Pavia. The valleys and beautifully hillsides lying South of the River Po, is home to the vineyards producing this excellent Barbera.
This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 1 year
