This is Taittinger's top quality wine and is made exclusively with Chardonnay grapes from the most renowned Crus of the prestigious Côte des Blancs. The harvest must be of exceptional quality and worthy of a Vintage Champagne. Only wines from the first press are used, guaranteeing the wine's finesse. 5% of the wines used in the blend are aged in new oak barrels thus enhancing the intrinsic qualities of the final blend. Minimum ageing of 8 years. Following disgorgement, a "dosage" of 9g per litre of cane sugar is added to make a dry style wine.
Champagne Taittinger's origins date back to 1734 with the founding of the original House by Jacques Fourneaux. The Taittinger link was established in 1931 when Pierre Taittinger acquired the House. He was stationed at the Château de la Marquetterie when serving in the 1st World War and fell in love with the property and its vineyards and eventually purchased the company. Today, the Reims based House remains owned and actively managed by the family named on the label.
The Champagne wine region is famous for its excellent sparkling wines. It is the most northerly wine growing region in France and its unique chalky soils and climate provide ideal growing conditions. All the grapes used in this wine are grown in the 100% rated Grands Crus vineyards in the Côte des Blancs of Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Cramant and Chouilly.
This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 10 + years
