Powerful and finely structured with intense hints of raspberry, with a touch of spice and vanilla. Superb.

The grapes are fermented in open wooden vats for 15-18 days. It is then aged in oak casks, of which one third are new.
Since the beginning of the adventure in 1808, 7 generations have contributed to build one of the finest estates in the Rhône Valley. Michel Chapoutier, at the head of the domain since 1990 has initiated various innovations: he has introduced Braille language on the labels and converted the whole estate to Biodynamic farming methods. He describes himself as “wine-grower, wine-maker and wine lover”.
This wine is from the Côte-Rotie The Côte-Rotie vineyard is certainly one of the oldest in existence in the Rhône valley. An old fondly told legend, tells of the seigneur de Maugiron who having two daughters, one blond and the other dark haired, bequeathed a hillside to each one of them. And thus were born the names of "Côte-Blonde" and "Côte-Brune."
This wine can be drunk now but will further improve if carefully stored for up to 5 years
