The fruit was machine harvested and selected from vineyards in South Eastern Australia. Parcels were carefully selected from various soil types and trellis systems to balance the style and flavour profile and to produce a harmonious wine. The fruit was then crushed, de-stemmed and immediately clarified. Fermentation using select yeast strains, was carried at a cool temperature to maintain fruit aromas. Post-ferment the wine remained on light lees until blending.
McGuigan Wines was established to celebrate the culmination of four generations of wine growing by the McGuigan family. Today Neil McGuigan is at the helm of McGuigan Wines. McGuigan was recently named the International Wine and Spirit Competition Australian producer of the year and International Winemaker of the year for an unprecedented third time in four years. International Wine and Spirit Competition Australian Producer of the Year and Winemaker of the year 2009/2011/2012
South Eastern Australia is hot with high evaporation rates and generally low rainfall, making irrigation essential. The climate is also continental, resulting in long sunny days and noticeably cooler nights. Modern viticultural and winemaking techniques mean that the climate can be seen as one of the region's strengths. Long sunshine hours ensure fruit ripens fully and low relative humidity results in little incidence of disease.
This wine can be drunk now but will further improve if carefully stored for up to 1 year
